REVIEWS
"Not much to report here. Move on.
Reference the Eno Ambient series if you want the real thing. Vega Stereo's
"Quark" clocks in at 61:11, though I can't say it even moved me much
past the 15 minute mark. "Quark" never hits a plateau that at least
provided a change or a moment of clarity where you think its going to get
better. Luovaja's site says the following about the release which is more
friendly than I could ever be …
"'Long suite of hypnotic ambient landscapes, electronic minimalism and relaxed

synthesizers. The other member of this mysterious Russian duo is also known for
his project Analog Concept.' 4/10"" (Darryl Norsen / Foxy Digitalis)

"Venäläinen duo Vega Stereo avaa pelin
kauniilla, hillityllä ambientilla, joka kumpuilee täyteläisinä aaltoina,
erittäin lupaavasti. Ensimmäinen vartti on silkkaa rautaa: analogista
äänimaisemamusiikkia, jossa on runsasta vaihtelua, kaunista harmoniaa ja
pientä, mahtavasti hypnotisoivaa dronea. Sen jälkeen kuitenkin meno muuttuu
paljon tasapaksummaksi, ja puolen tunnin kieppeillä ollaan jo melko
rutiininomaisessa materiaalissa.
(Jiituomas

"The Russian duo Vega Stereo starts off
with beautiful, subdued ambient, which very promisingly flows in robust waves.
The first 15 minutes are solid gold: Analog soundscape music, which contains
lots of alternation, beautiful harmony and small, magnificently hypnotizing
drone. After that things become much more boring, though, and by the half-hour
mark it’s all become just rather generic, rote, ambient. In the last 15 minutes
there is a return to far more interesting material, but not on the level of the
excellent beginning.
"Quark is fine ambient, particularly for those who prefer ambient that isn’t of
the darkest kind. And the half-way bits do flow away smoothly enough, making
this an enjoyable album, particularly as background music." (Jiituomas / Kuolleen musiikin yhdistys)
